Pyrite Suns |
|
Naturally formed pyrite “suns”. These flat disc-shaped pyrites have crystals that radiate out from the center like the rays of a sun. These specimens are from the Spartan Mine in Sparta, Illinois. More specifically, they are from the Herrin #6 Seam, 280' Level and are dated at 290-320 M Yr Old. They are found pressed between thin layers of shale. |
