Smoky Quartz Specimens

These smoky quartz specimens are from Teller County, Colorado.  The smoky color is all natural—the specimens have not been irradiated.

ID# SP2-546 Long, tabular smoky quartz crystal.  It appears that this was a quartz shard that recrystallized in the pocket.  Very interesting.  Maximum dimension approximately 3.4” (86mm).

ID# SP2-93 Smoky quartz crystal with minor limonite.  The base of the crystal re-crystallized after breaking away from the matrix resulting in dozens of tiny terminations at the base end.
